Besides those tracks, "R.U. Ready 2 Rock" stands out as a hard rocking anthem and "Goin' Through the Motions" is BOC at their catchiest. "Spectres" wasn't the mega-hit that "Agents of Fortune" had been, but it tended to rock out harder.
Just three years (and two albums) after their previous live recording [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], BOC released another live disc in 1978s "Some Enchanted Evening." To their credit, the set list for this set was entirely different and which one a given listener prefers is probably based on the period of the band that is closest to his or her heart.
While the Blue Oyster Cult sound had really been developed and matured during the first part of the 1970s and showcased in their early albums, there was more to come. They had built a following over the course of time, but the real stardom was about to present itself to them.
Agents of Fortune
Besides that piece of classic rock legend [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the album included (Extra Terrestrial Intelligence)," which became a live standard for the group. While nothing else on the album stands out to the level of those two cuts, "This Ain't The Summer of Love" shines as the rocking anthem and "The Revenge of Vera Gemini" is notable for the guest appearance by Patti Smith.

Hits like "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" and "Godzilla" brought Blue Oyster Cult a new type of mass popularity. The discs that produced those songs still managed to please most of their older fans, but "Mirrors" had a more pop-oriented sound that disappointed some of the faithful hard rock crowd.

With 1979's "Mirrors," Blue Oyster Cult moved towards a more pop rock oriented sound. The result didn't work as well for the band in terms of sales as the previous discs. had. "Mirrors" was the last album the band released in the 1970's.
A year after releasing "Agents of Fortune," BOC were back with "Spectres." The album produced one of the group's other trademark pieces, the unforgettable tribute to movie monsters, "Godzilla." "Nosferatu" was also inspired by film creatures, but didn't become the staple that "Godzilla" did.

While the music on "Agents of Fortune" was perhaps not as fine-tuned in terms of consistency as some of the earlier work, Blue Oyster Cult achieved a new level of popularity with the 1976 album. The hit song "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" got them their highest single rankings.
Live versions of "Godzilla" and "Don't Fear the Reaper" along with a live take on the epic "Astronomy" are highlights [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but nothing here is weak. BOC again reach back to the roots of heavy metal by covering the MC5's "Kick Out the Jams." They also put in a rendition of the Animal's "We Gotta Get out of This Place."
