Two words: post-apocalyptic zombies. Yep, following in the footsteps of such films as the live-action horror/comedy Zombieland, and using the same vibe as Focus Feature's steampunk fantasy 9, follows a small group of humans trying to survive in a dystopia populated by the walking dead.
Unfortunately [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Garcia and director Ben Hibon don't have a studio or financing yet. It also doesn't help that the duo don't have any real Hollywood credits to their name: Hibon helmed the video game Heavenly Sword and Garcia produced a documentary called Do It For Johnny [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], about a group of writers and directors trying to get a script to actor Johnny Depp (Alice in Wonderland).
On the plus side, the duo does have producer Bernie Goldman (Land of the Dead, 300) on side, and he seems thrilled with what they have so far.
No word on when – or if – hits theatres, but look for further updates on this film as they become available.
"Haylar has done a great job with this script," Goldman says. "He has rewritten it twice and blown me away with the cool set pieces he has invented. Ben’s designs for this movies are amazing!"
Cyberland's been buzzing about a teaser trailer that just popped up on Youtube (via BoingBoing.net) for a possible CGI animated movie called A.D. So what's so cool about it?
"One day I realized that almost all zombie films, though cool [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], seemed to have such a modest scope," said scriptwriter Haylar Garcia in an interview on Zombieinfo.com, a self-produced site designed to drum up interest in the film. "I suddenly wanted to write a screenplay that had the feel of a huge action flick coupled the macabre charm and metaphoric content of the great zombie film too: The Independence Day of Zombie films if you will."
"We set out to create a visual universe that distinguished itself from the classic zombie formula," added Hibon from the same interview. "Translating Haylar’s script into animation was the first step to making this project unique. Animation very rarely ventures into mature and dark territories. It’s very important to define a strong and bold look for this movie, create our own visual benchmark. has definitely its very own identity that serves the purpose of the movie; it’s stylised and graphical, but very gritty and textured just like the reality and the world the story is set in."

Haylar Garcia and Ben Hibon Promoting Possible CGI Zombie Film 90-second teaser shows a gaunt man and woman battling a group of zombies that attack them from all sides. Unlike most family-friendly animated films, this teaser doesn't shrink from ye olde hack-n'-slash. Even with cheap CGI, this teaser shows the atmosphere of dread, and offers some pretty frightening undead.
