Back in the day ...
I accustom to handle in baseball cards, and some events in the medial to late 1980's. Through one age consumer I had the opportunity to sell a very infrequent chip of baseball lore. The piece namely I was fondest of was a rare file signed along Harry Wright. A founding dad of the game. The document was a compact of some athlete that was signed along Harry Wright, the director,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], circa 1870. It was written on Cincinnati Red Stocking’s letterhead.
I was impressed. I was so incited to be entrusted with this rare artifact. I remember mentioning to myself.
“Oh my Lord. You have got to be kidding.”
I was amazed. I was in awe. I felt like I was let into a special team.
I sold the piece in the scope of $10,000 - $12,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],000 whether memory serves me. But selling the piece did not contrast to the dreams I had approximately the contract.
Imagine, what it have to have been like 130 years antecedent on the pellet field. The baggy uniforms, and the tiny mitts for the players. The pitchers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], tossing both games of a double header was prevalent practice and a family flee was a rarity. Boy has the game changed.
Handling that document made the early times of baseball real because me. I visualized those men playing in those old ballparks. I felt favor I was portion of that time. I was having a dream. I was there,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], back in the late 1800's sitting in the stands. Smiling and seeing baseball - Back in the day.
Handling this artifact was like punching a time timer and never punching out. I was in baseball memorabiliaville.
I can watch why some human are so perfervid about baseball memorabilia. Their baseball phantom made a lot more sense to me after I sold this Harry Wright piece.
