The 1980s?? Coming back into fashion?? Oh, gods and goddesses of fashion,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], please say it ain’t so!? But the Style Gods atop Mount Fabulous have spoken,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and it is true: the Eighties are back … but with a touch of vaudeville,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which just about makes it bearable, at least on paper.
In practice, however … well,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], surprisingly, this look actually works.? Just take a look at innovative miss Betsey Johnson’s take on this new trend.? It’s a little 1980s punk, with the fingerless gloves, the jacket, and the skull and bones tee shirt.? Yet, between the too cute little shorts and the accessories — the adorable bowler hat, choker, et cetera — there is definitely an air of vaudeville mixed in to what could have been a fashion driven trainwreck of a trend.
Thankfully, Betsey is not the only designer working this flashback to the Flashdance era.? There are designers and labels out there who have even found a way to make shoulder pads work, can you even believe that?
Ann Demeulemeester managed it in the form of a stylish little black dress; Balmain went off the shoulder; and Chanel successfully brought back the high waisted skirt.
