Here's a slightly modified synopsis for the flick, courtesy of the DreamWorks site.
Now that Kung Fu Panda is about to hit theatres, DreamWorks Animation is looking to promote its next animated film, Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. The studio has also announced what everyone pretty much knew already: the original cast has returned for the new flick, and DreamWorks is throwing in a few more names for the sequel.
This time, the slightly-altered lyrics to the aforementioned tune make up the tagline for this flick. Naturally, one of the first jobs of this one-sheet is to reassure the viewer that, yes replica gucci bags, the original characters that you loved from the first flick have returned for more "fish out of water" hijinks.
"All the lovable characters are back – Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo and Melman the Giraffe, King Julien, Maurice and the penguins - in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. Left marooned on the distant shores of Madagascar, the New Yorkers have hatched a plan so crazy it might just work. With military precision, the penguins have repaired an old, crashed plane – sort of.
New cast members for Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa include Bernie Mac (The Bernie Mac Show) as Zuba gucci hobo bags, Alex's dad and head of the pride, Sherri Shepherd (The View) as Alex's Mom gucci watches for men, and Alec Baldwin (30 Rock) as Makunga, a challenger to Zuba (hmm, this dynamic has an eerily familiar ring: will there be shades of The Lion King here?).
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa poster
Unfortunately, this poster has a very disjointed feel, as if the characters were drawn up separately and then slapped together using Photoshop. C'mon, DreamWorks, you're putting together a multi-million dollar movie here; the least you could do is push some of that coin towards better-looking poster
Finally, of The Black Eyed Peas will make an animated appearance as Moto Moto, a watering hole lothario.
Ben Stiller, Chris Rock back in Madagascar sequel
Did the appearance of Reel 2 Reel's 1994 hit song "I Like to Move It" in the middle of the first Madagascar really freakin' annoy you? Well tough luck, because it's one of the central elements of the Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa poster that the good folks at Cinematical just scored an exclusive look at.
What's it about?
"Once aloft, this unlikely crew stays airborne just enough to make it to the wildest place of all – the vast plains of Africa itself – where our zoo-raised crew encounter species of their own kind for the very first time. While discovering their roots, they quickly realize the differences between the concrete jungle and the heart of Africa. Despite long-lost relatives, romantic rivals and scheming hunters, Africa seems like a "crack-a-lackin'" great place . . . but is it better than their Central Park home?"

Eric Darnell and Tom McGrath, the writer/directors of Madagascar, return to script and helm this flick. Mireille Soria (Madagascar) and Mark Swift (Bee Movie) are theproduceres. In addition to his onscreen antics, will compose the score alongside Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, The Simpsons Movie).
Ben Stiller returns as Alex the lion, Chris Rock as Marty the zebra, David Schwimmer as Melman the giraffe, Jada Pinkett Smith as Gloria the hippo, Sacha Baron Cohen as King Julien the lemur king, Cedric The Entertainer as Maurice (Julien's advisor) and Andy Richter as Mort are reprising their roles. Oh yes, and the penguins are back.
