3. Excuses to Shop
5. Have Something to Look Forward To
Speaking of picking up, buying summer clothes and storing them away for winter holidays means less stress come travel time and lovely new clothes to show off during the trip!
2. The Early Bird Gets the Savings
Buying a guidebook for an upcoming winter getaway and reading it by the beach or pool is a perfect way to get inspired for an upcoming holiday. Planning in advance also leaves time to contact local Tourist Bureaus, discussion groups or even friends and family to provide suggestions and helpful hints for places to visit (and places to avoid!).
When itinerary building isn't left to the last minute there is time to even contact vendors directly and get to know them before showing up on their doorsteps. At the very least, advanced planning will provide much-needed knowledge of the area, ideas on how time should be spent and will usually turn up some "must see" destinations. If the trip involves traveling with children, advanced research will help determine which locations are "kid friendly" and which areas should be avoided.
Not that an excuse was necessary, but planning a winter getaway in advance provides the perfect excuse to take advantage of the amazing summer sales in stores.
What better time to think about things to do this winter than while doing them this summer? Going to the water slides, playing golf or taking tennis lessons can easily be kept alive by planning winter getaways around favorite summer fun activities. Not only is it fun to relive fond summer memories, but in the case of tennis, golf or other sports, it's easier to keep the summer learning fresh by practicing during the "off season."
Everyone has heard of people booking their vacations for next to nothing. Those people don't know any amazing secrets, they just know to plan early! Watching for fare sales and booking in advance are the keys to affordable winter getaways. It is possible to save by booking at the last minute, but it is also possible to miss out entirely, especially if babysitters [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], house-sitters or animal care is needed. Luckily, many airlines have fare sales during the summer and the travel dates extend well into winter. Booking while it's hot allows for ample time to plan activities and save up to make the most of the trip once it gets cold.

4. Leave Time to Plan An Itinerary
Once the dates have been picked and the tickets booked [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the only thing left to do is look forward to sun-filled rest and relaxation! Marking dates in a calendar, or starting a "calendar countdown" are great ways to remember that there's a light [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], actual sunlight, at the end of the gloomy, cloudy tunnel! Having travel dates set in advance also helps to plan busy holiday party schedule
Why shop early? Retail has figured out "snow birds" and knows how to take advantage of those seeking sanctuary from the cold. Purchasing bathing suits, shorts and other warm-weather vacation necessities in the winter almost always results in paying premium prices for limited selections. Retail "seasons" are not like calendar seasons ("summer" is usually March through June), so summer sales in stores happen right as the "real" summer season is picking up.
For many people, it's hard to think about winter vacations because summer has only just begun, but here are five great reasons why booking a winter getaway should be at the top of the summer "to do" list.
1. Keep Summer Fun Alive
